Diplomatic sites hardened against the blast threat

Protecting exposed diplomatic premises against the effects of an explosion. BS&A carried out vulnerability audits coupled with engineering studies by calculation and numerical simulation, applied to load-bearing structures and secondary works. Perimeters, façades and protected areas now meet the protection requirements against malicious acts, terrorism and accidents.

A blast-resistant slab for a critical infrastructure operator

Protecting the public of a critical infrastructure operator above an enclosed car park. BS&A designed the 1,500 m² fibre-reinforced concrete blast slab, mapped the internal overpressures and defended the technical solution against a competing offer with additional calculations. The calculations were validated by an external authority and the slab was poured.

A UHPFRC structure designed against blast and earthquake

Designing an ultra-high performance fibre-reinforced concrete (UHPFRC) structure for a precast concrete manufacturer, against blast, earthquake and static loads. BS&A carried out the entire design in accordance with the Eurocodes and the French UHPFRC standard NF P18-710.

A shell kept under control on a construction site

Establishing the danger zones of a historical shell on a construction site. BS&A carried out the pyrotechnic safety study and established the danger radii for overpressure and impact, with and without a screen, using dedicated calculation tools. The study was validated by the competent authority, allowing the works to continue safely.

    Design of pyrotechnic infrastructure

Designing pyrotechnic infrastructure internationally under three sets of regulations: French, NATO and local. BS&A covered the entire engineering chain, from safety studies to the design of barricades, blast doors and frangible walls against internal and external pyrotechnic loads. The buildings were built.

Blast Vulnerability Assessment of an international building

Measuring the consequences of an explosive attack on an international building open to the public. BS&A carried out a Blast Vulnerability Assessment: a combined evaluation of the consequences for people, glazing and structures, including a progressive-collapse feasibility study. A prioritised action plan was drawn up and the building’s entrances were protected.

A mining site protected against the terrorist threat

Sheltering an isolated mining site from the terrorist threat. BS&A carried out a security audit, then designed a complete security concept, with low-cost protection solutions pre-designed from the materials available on site. The site’s level of protection was raised and the collaboration was renewed several times.

A financial institution secured across several countries

Assessing the risks of a financial institution’s offices and cash reserves across several countries. BS&A carried out harmonised audits reviewing all physical security measures. A graded action plan by risk family was put in place and the protection plan standardised across the international sites.
