Design. Test. Verify.
BS&A is an engineering firm specialising in safety and security risk management.
From simulation to testing, all the way to our own software: every result is traceable and verified.
- 01
Engineering
We protect people, property and infrastructure against explosions, impacts, shocks, earthquakes and tornadoes.

Testing
We test structures, building envelope and fit-out elements, systems and prototypes against blast, at full scale.
Discover → - 03
Software
We develop our own software to verify every result.

Experience born of different fields
BS&A quantifies and controls risks of human, technological and natural origin: terrorist attack, industrial accident, earthquake, tornado.

Engineering software brought together in a single environment
Our promise
Continuous improvement through testing
We feed every test into our databases and check our tools against real results: your projects draw on field experience.
Traceability to nuclear standards
We match the level of verification to what is at stake in each project, up to the requirements of ISO 19443 for the nuclear industry: every assumption and every calculation remains traceable.
Tools for faster decisions
Our software forms a single environment where data flows without re-entry: engineers run their calculations in it, decision-makers read clear results, faster.
Our sectors
Energy
Nuclear, oil & gas, hydrogen.
Defence and space
Sites, equipment.
Critical industries
Industrial sites, Seveso sites.
Public authorities
Operators of vital importance, public spaces.

Diplomatic sites hardened against the blast threat
Protecting exposed diplomatic premises against the effects of an explosion. BS&A carried out vulnerability audits coupled with engineering studies by calculation and numerical simulation, applied to load-bearing structures and secondary works. Perimeters, façades and protected areas now meet the protection requirements against malicious acts, terrorism and accidents.
Critical industry · France
A blast-resistant slab for a critical infrastructure operator
Protecting the public of a critical infrastructure operator above an enclosed car park. BS&A designed the 1,500 m² fibre-reinforced concrete blast slab, mapped the internal overpressures and defended the technical solution against a competing offer with additional calculations. The calculations were validated by an external authority and the slab was poured.
Defence · International
Design of pyrotechnic infrastructure
Designing pyrotechnic infrastructure internationally under three sets of regulations: French, NATO and local. BS&A covered the entire engineering chain, from safety studies to the design of barricades, blast doors and frangible walls against internal and external pyrotechnic loads. The buildings were built.
ISO 19443 certification and ISO 9001 renewal
We have obtained ISO 19443 certification and renewed our ISO 9001 certification, recognising our command of nuclear-sector requirements.

The “7-bar door”: where does it come from?
A requirement born of one specific case, applied everywhere as a shortcut: start from the real scenario.

Anti-blast — but against which blast?
The same charge, very different effects depending on the setting: start from the scenarios before designing.

Groundwater lifts the shelter, and water eventually gets in: burying a shelter calls for a study.
